This is actually where I do most of my listening. I just love the look and sound of vintage gear. The warm glow of the tubes really sets the mood.

Sorry but I gotta ask... single or married and if the latter you have one truly legendary and understanding parnter!

I need to go sit in my closet and let the envy dissipate now...

I have same Quartets. Cheap great investment is Crites Ti diaphragms. I did that and the mids and it really made a big difference.

I checked his site. Finding prices for the diaphrams are proving a bit challenging. How much did two sets (tweets and mids) cost?

Does it sound as good as it looks??!!

To my ears it sounds wonderful. The citation gear replaced a scott 299a and it is a definate quantifiable improvement to that in terms of bass response and clarity. So, good recordings sound better and bad recordings sound worse. The Citation gear doesn't seem to do much in the way of imposing its character on the music unless you want it to do so by fiddling with the tone an contour controls.

This is exactly the character I would expect from a high quality preamp/amp pair.
