My first JICO order

I received the stylus yesterday (it took three weeks) and so far am very well pleased with it. It's orders of magnitude better than the generic replacements I have tried and seems to track and sound at least as good as the original Shure. I did not get the SAS but did get the better "hyper-elliptical". I checked the stone under microscope and it looks well ground and properly mounted, again not the experience I had with that $12.95 generic from epay.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Very nice detail and has the warm analog sound.

I load my at 47k and 450 pf total (including leads etc.)
 
it's worth the shipping and the wait. I was happy with my jico stylus and everything I order from japan is high quality

Same here. Also, have two Shure M55s with them. After the record cleaning machine and my new to me Pioneer SA 9100 get paid, I hope to get a SAS for my Shure V15 type two.:Da

Loading is the input resistance and capcitance your cartridge will see at the phono stage or phono input.

Your vintage pioneer most likely has a 47k ohm resistive load. That is good for the V15 and most MM.

For capacitance Shure speciifes a range of 400 to 500 pf. That means the sum of your turhtable wires, rca wires, and your receivers input capacitance.

You can either meassures these values, or look them up, guesstimate.

You can add load plugs to tweak the value to your liking.

Hi—I was wondering why so many order directly from Japan, doesn't LPGear sell these? Or are they not the same? :scratch2:
 
In my case being in Australia, and with exchange rates fluctuating, it is sometimes more economical ordering from LPGear or Turntableneedles and sometimes from Jico direct...
 
What have the shipping rates been roughly?
I've got a V15III, M91 and M95 and have been thinking about a Jico for at least 1 but am still undecided as to which I might try first.

I'm an LPGear customer but decided to try a different route this time.

I am getting ready to order a stylus for my V15III and will go with a domestic reseller this time. Probably LPGear or Ed Saunders.
 
Just pulled the trigger on an SAS for my M97xE. Ordered from Turntable Needles. Should be here middle of next week (hopefully on my days off.)

As far as loading, I'm going to keep my SL-D2 plugged into my Sherwood RX-4109, and that's the end of that. :p :)
 
The M91ed SAS stylus I ordered direct from JICO arrived safe and sound :banana:

Shipping was delayed for several weeks but communication was good and the stylus was shipped on the day promised.

I have a VN45SAS and I love love LOVE it!

No loading mods, no measurements*. It, and the original VN45HE, are my top styli by a wide margin. I find myself treating them like glass hammers, only bringing them out for special occasions.

* Except TTR115 Bells: Pass at level 5, same as VN45HE. Nothing else comes close.
 
Just ordered a .2x.7 N75ED/2 from Jico for my old M75. It looks to be about the right compliance for my Dual 701 and it was only $46 shipped. I'm excited to hear that cart with a good stylus and if it works out I may get the SAS eventually.
 
Just crossing my fingers that alignment will still be okay when the SAS arrives. I've got the original stylus pretty much spot on by the Technics Baerwald arc protractor from Vinyl Engine.

I'll try to find my receipt but shipping to Canada is not that bad. It was very quick. I think it took like 4 days.
I found the receipt. It was $13.11 for 2 stylii. Not bad in my book.

Shure v15IV

Just got my SAS from lp gear. Really quick shipment from time order placed! Having it put on my Kenwood KR-3055 "The Rock" table as I write this-cant wait to get it back from my tech!
