My love hate relationship with Sansui

It was nice, but it didn’t drive 4 ohm speakers or Speakers with 12 inch woofers very well. I let my Yamaha M-40 go when I got it, and then discovered it couldn’t properly drive some Camber 2.0s. I think my AU-9900 replaces it from that perspective. It also suffers from the Sansui glue problem. But it was very nice with regular 8 ohm speakers. Yes, I let it go a few years ago. I brought it with me on one of my regular trips to Toronto and delivered it to a fellow who was also visiting Toronto that weekend.

The B2201 is like my Holy Grail amplifier.

Did you get rid of the one you had ?

How did you find one ?

The way I found this is one of those stories that could have been a fantastic score, but I missed the boat. I had bought a pair of Celestion Ditton 15s in teak veneer from a guy on kijiji. While we were closing the deal, he mentioned that he was expecting to get some more vintage gear, and would I be interested. I said for sure, and about a week later, he told me to come on by, the gear was in his garage. I got there, and he had a very nice Philips GA-312, the Sansui Amp, and some Meridian gear. He wanted $650 for all of it! I foolishly went for the Sansui and Philips alone, and when I got home, started researching the meridian. I immediately checked his ads, and he had listed the Meridian gear for $1200, and it was gone a day later. :(
