I honestly don't know... AK member NumbDriver brought over a stack of CD's to handout (a demo CD for the preamp he purchased, I think), and it's the last track. 10-minutes of extraordinary speaker punishment.
I would also add that there is an organ piece on there that managed to find the resonant frequency of my basement floor. With the Sonys no less.

WOW! That must be one unique recorded piece of music. I know there have been many a woofer succumb to Joe Walsh`s The Smoker You Play The Drinker You Get but WOW! So my next question is what does a guy have to do to get a copy of said CD?? I could sure have some fun with that!

It's a good thing you're not making a couple of pairs of speakers up there. You'd have to raid the local fitness center to get enough weights .
Sorry to hear about the demise of the IMF baffle. I've got a test CD that took out a 10" subwoofer in just a few seconds, melted the spider right off the coil.

good job, you will have a very tight sound , no boom or boxy sound, I had to modify my Klipish KW120-THX by taking out the 12 in driver VERY HEAVY and work through the hole and glue counter top solid pieces of wood all around it and then foam, like you are doing, now much better sound, solid no boxy sound

When last we left off, Bob was on his way to earn a real living for about a week, so both the main speaker project, and the mini-project were put on hold. But, we're back on track now, with two more days under our belt.
The mini-project, IMF baffledectomy, is what we've decided to finish first, given that all they need is a baffle, and they're nearly complete. The IMF's have given us a spot of trouble that has lead to creative solutions to work synergistically with the old paradigm (uhg... I feel dirty). Those who have seen the baffle of the TLS-50 know that complex is an understatement. Not only are all of the drivers (4 of them) grouped up, essentially, in a corner, but they weave through each other and overlap in numerous ways. Plus, each driver, except for the midrange, is flush mounted to a different depth by necessity, not just pretty looks. This means that each driver hole in the baffle is accompanied by the creation of at least one routing or cutting template. For the woofer recess in particular, we finally gave up and destroyed one of the original baffles, turning it into a handy template.
Still, all has gone about as well as possible. The idea is that we may have the IMFs complete today, with a good 4-hour stretch. Then, we can begin to finish the speakers we had intended to build all along. As stated in the post title, pictures to follow later, hopefully.

Well, after a marathon 8-hour day, the IMF's are complete. Aside from a new baffle (1-inch, 17-ply plywood) they also got new lower tweeters, courtesy of MAXZ28 (Darren), specifically Polk Silver Coils.
The woofers, as you can see, are rotated. This was initially to cover a mistake, but I think it gives it an unusual look. The original baffles were 3/4-inch thick, so now everything stands proud by 1/4 inch, which does not hurt a thing.
The final bit I need to do is apply new velcro to the grilles and baffles. Now that this emergency has been taken care of, the new untitled speaker project will get back underway starting next monday- watch this space.
