My new uber power strip project with pics

Thanks all. At this point though I am sick of looking at it. I put it all away and will bring it back out Friday morning and finish it up.

I thought about those lights but I will wait untill I get all the parts in there to make that decision.

You can't flame polish polycarb, it just turns black. After I get it down to 800 grit I will brush on Methelyne (sp) and that will melt the surface to a clear shine.
 
If you look at the first page and see the box I built out of 1.25" lexan, you can see the lines I put down for the shaping. Then I hogged out to that shape. The purpose of the wavyness? ART.

holy crap so you ground down the solid lexan to the shape we see there.. ok i am catching up on why you have been working so hard at it. i was going to be impressed with straight sides.. you are going the extra tenth degree :)

i really cant wait to see it when its done..

now as a power strip is this going to be pretty bad ass as well? I'm assuming since you say uber power strip but I'm pretty inexperienced with anything audio DIY so i dont know anything abotu the components you are using .
 
The surge protector and active tracking filter are industral grade used to protect the computer controlers in large stamping plants. Those computers need continuous clean power to keep 70,000 ton presses working 24/7 and also protection from huge power surges that can rip through the plants as well.

This idea came to me when I was in Denver last year on a fly fishing trip. My fried out there has a normal power strip and during a storm a surge came down the line and fried his whole system. Seeing that a best buy power strip did not offer any protection I decided to build one that would.
 
Hey Mike, nope, we have been preping to go on vacation and leave tomorrow so it will be on hold for two weeks. I can tell you that those four pieces of polycarb need about 40 more hours of sanding so it is no small task. The problem is that every little scratch shows up like a flare so I have to ID all the little scratches as I go.
