my sad collection of "New England" loudspeakers

This is my first time on AK as a participating member. I am not sure if this is the right spot for this question but here goes. I picked up a pair of Acoustic Research AR 98LSi LL speakers at GW today. I can't find any info on this particular model. They had the same HF setup as the 9's and 9LS with the dome tweeter and dome mid. The 8" mid-woofer and 12" woofer were almost white in appearance (the cone). Kind of like a plastic/paper material. The label on the back read 98LSi LL. Is anyone familiar with this model??

Hi everyone my favorite is the Acoustic Research but I had a job working for Apogee acoustics in Randolph Massachusetts

Kendo: White plastic drivers doesn't sound right. Post a picture and you'll get more certain information.

Well let me add mine....

AR-7
Advent Loudspeakers (OLA) x2
Polk Monitor 10
Polk RTi4
Bose 701 (Well they are from New England :D )
Boston Acoustics A-400

Huh had more then I thought

Aren't Polks from Baltimore or the environs?

Yes, and I don't know why people think that's the New England area.

BTW, I bought a pair of Polk RTA-12 for my son. They sounded OK at conversation volume but couldn't get rid of them fast enough. Replaced them with AR TSW610

My small collection:

AR90
AR91
AR TSW610
Bose 901 Series II and VI

I've got
(2) KLH 6
KLH nineteen (little guys)
AR2
plus dynacos and Goodman's which are waaaayy far east coast.

I only listen to west coast jazz though.

Just stumbled onto this thread, thanks everyone, let's keep it alive.

Klipsch don't count - they are pretty much polar opposites, which isn't to denigrate them, but in terms of geography, sound, driver type, size, and expense, they are what New England speakers aren't.
Bose is geographically correct, but not exactly sympatico soundwise with the standard NE ethos.
Wharfedale, of course is Ye Olde England, not the new one, though I believe some sold in the US were assembled on Long Island. And my own feeling is that Gilbert Briggs was more an infinite baffle guy than an acoustic suspension guy (rather like Rudy Bozak).

OK - I just came across this thread and I'll bring it back.

I can't listen to all of these at once, so I rotate through them.

Boston Acoustics Sub Sat 7
Boston Acoustics CR67
Boston Acoustics T830

Definitive Technology BP10 - surprisingly good sound

NEAR 15M - surprisingly good sound
NEAR Sound Mast
NEAR 50M - good sound, solid bass

Polk Monitor 5
Polk Monitor 10 series 2

Snell Acoustics Type J - surprisingly good sound

My wife says I have too many speakers and I've recently moved some out:

Advent Legacy III
AR TSW310
BA CR65

Apparently, I like the New England sound, also.

5-1/2 years later, I have increased my collection and weeded out some lesser NE speakers:

These speakers are currently hooked up and played at least weekly:
EPI 120B
EPI 150

KLH 6
OLA: Original Large Advent

These are in my restore pile:
EPI 70

This one is waiting to be put to use:
KLH 20

KLH Model 5
Cizek, Model 1 and Model 2

Passed through my fingers: KLH 6 & 23; Epicure 400; Advent OLA & small advent; ADS L780; Boston CR9; AR 91
