My slow Pioneer Spec build

Some Updated Snaps

Well I have made a few changes to my system. The biggest was adding a Turntable a Pioneer Pl-514 that I Veneered with some Birdseye. As much as I tried to stay away from Vinyl I just couldn't help myself.

Also if you notice on some of the older pics the the top shelf had the nuts sitting on top of the shelf, now those have been replaced with flush flanges. It really cleans up the look.







 
Thanks for the compliments. I'm pretty proud of it. My Wife 9 & 4 year old enjoy the system as much as I do :music:

Where did you end up getting the hex nuts from? after seeing your acme threaded rod rack i wanted to build one but the nut price is crazy . the rods are only a few dollars more at mcmaster but the nuts are almost $2 a piece. do you have a better source?

Sorry for the late reply, but I purchased the rods, and nuts from http://www.use-enco.com/ yes nuts are not cheap but I guarantee you will not be dissapointed. in the end it will probably run you $40 more than it would using conventional hardware from Lowes or Home Depot, but it is so worth it. If you build it I would love to see it.

Almost forgot Enco sometimes offers free shipping with codes on their site. If you cant find a code just call them for one.
 
That looks great.the black rods, blonde shelves, brushed aluminum Pioneer gear.Ive always wanted the Spec setup.Closest I got was a SA 9500 MKII.Good effort my man!

Boy, do you have the wheels turning in my head! That's exactly the sort of rack I need to build for my equipment. Very simple, very elegant, and utterly functional. I love it.

I can see installing some LED lights routed into the bottom of each shelf to illuminate the gear faces - my eyesight is not what it used to be. I'm a drummer, so I could also see using some of the oversized rubber feet used on drum stands on the bottom of the rods.

Those inset nuts you used on the top shelf was really the finishing touch. Good job, my man.

rack looks great, did ya have to pay your brother for the gear?
I simply went with a aluminum server rack. I like the look.

Did you spot the drum clamp holding the lamp to the rack? and yes I build the lamp too :yes:

I like the idea of LED's routed into the bottom of the shelved. I would love to see it if you build it.

The gear was mine to begin with, I have owned it since 94~. My brother had it hooked up with a mixer, and two Technics 1200's from 01-13. Finally got it back after he bought his own amp. Killer setup you got BTW :thmbsp:
 
I don't suppose you'd mind linking to the exact rods/nuts/washers you used for your rack, would you? There are so many different sizes/finishes that it is hard to know what to look for.

Sure I know it was all 5/8 8 RHT. Let me find my paperwork and I will post exact links.
