I got lucky and came across an old picture of my first real serious stereo system, it was from 1980. It included a RS STA-2100D, Teac reel to reel, RS 8 track recorder, Lab 400 TT, casette recorder, Mach 1 speakers, T-200 speakers, MXR equalizer.

The Radioshack near me offered a payment plan at the time, no other stereo store would, so RS Steve was created. :D

I still have the STA-2100D receiver, Mach 1 speakers, MXR equalizer, and Teac reel to reel. I pull it out of my storage closet every so often to enjoy it.

Thought I would share. :thmbsp:

Your post brings back memories of when I first, seriously, started my own full stereo system. It was 1980. One Saturday my brother and I were downtown shopping at a store named Joske's (which no longer exsist) and while walking past the electronic section they had this new top of the line Toshiba model full racked stereo system on display. The system consisted of seperates, tuner, pre-amplifier, power amp, complete with speakers, turn table, cassette deck (with Metal tape capability taping) and all. Also had it's own rack and the speakers had Toshiba printed on them as well as the turn tables needle. As soon as I saw it, right then and there I wanted it. Back then it cost me some serious $$$$ but I knew I wanted it. Purchased it and was delivered the following week. Man was that something else. Too bad I don't :no: have pictures of the original entire system. :tears:
Still have the original tuner, pre-amplifier, power amplifier and turn table. Wish I would have kept everything but didn't. :sigh:

It's all history now. :smoke:
 
Its always awesome re-hearing what was your stereo long ago for so many reasons.

I recently went to my hometown just two weeks ago to hear the stereo i built when i was 16. It was a blast. And it is nothing to what i have now.

I even took some pics of it and i was thinking of posting them here.

My first stereo was an Electrophonic Music Center with AM/FM stereo, Garrard turntable, 8 track tape player and 2 air suspension speakers..

Had a huge dustcover on top covering the whole unit. Even had a guitar input...

I still have mine & the radio plays just fine. Those little Morse 3.5 speaks still sound great. Bought mine in '80! :yes:

Don't have the Disco lights though! :D

Just hooking the old system up makes me remember just how good a system I had right out of highschool. I used to sit in the middle of my room in my beanbag chair, and just enjoy music for hours. Good times!

I had one of those MXR EQ in days gone by... picked up another one for nostalgia reasons.

Always liked those EQs!

I think of when I bought it & the changes going on in my life at that time. Kenyon's dept. store which is long long gone now was the place I bought it new!

Yep, id just sit there listening hours on end. Listened to Jpop alot back then.

I remember when my mother first saw the speakers i bought. She asked me if i was "Compensating for something". I laughed as i carried my new Klipsch RF 7 clones up the stairs.

* Excuse the chickens. YouTube was giving me grief about copyright infringement. You can still hear what's driving the lights behind them.

That's my current setup. Way back in the day, I had a dropped ceiling full of prism panels, and a bunch of christmas lights, floods, mirrors, fans, tinsel behind those, all driven by a couple DIY three channel controllers ... got pretty busy up there.
 
These pics of first systems are how I dream the shelves at the local GW will look when I do my weekly drive by.

I would post a photo of my first system but photography was invented some years after I got it. :D
