I was able to acquire another Fisher 1800, but this unit is all original including manuals and box. I've made it clear that the 1800 is my all around favorite Fisher model, and there has always been questions about this model that I along with others, have wanted answers to. This unit was owned by a Major Nelson, and it seems that this 1800 has been to Germany, France, and South Korea. I wonder if it was the Major Nelson from I dream of Jeanie.
This receiver has a custom wood case that doesn't appear to be a Fisher, I will examine it for marks or writing when I remove it from the receiver. All tubes that I can visibly see, look to be original Fisher. The original box is in pretty worn, but has all the cool history of its travels.
This unit helps with documentation of the 1800 model, we already knew it was produced to be sold in PX's for military personnel going overseas, and that all the known serial numbers show that only a run of 1000 were produced. But what wasn't known for sure was if they ever produced a model 1800 manual since it is a 800-C in different clothing so to speak. We now know that they had 800-C manuals with them, and a sticker for the box saying model 1800.
For me, this is a special find, and I look forward to assessing its condition.

after selling them some Mig 17's at bargain basement prices, complete with pilots fresh out of flight school.
A few of them made it to a few Hi end Mucky Mucks in the Duma and the rest are held in storage in a deep dark dank bunker
under GRU control. Eventually they'll get sold to Western audiophiles as Barn finds at a Large Profit.

but it took some real deep thought to come up with it. 
. The wood cabinet has no markings inside showing if it was built by a company or custom, looks well built though. I assume this receiver has spent its entire life, after purchase, in this cabinet. That would explain how corrosion free the chassis is, all I did is wipe it with a rag containing WD-40, no polishing at all. I will remove the bottom this evening and take a peak inside.
