My Yamaha CA-2000 & CA-2010 journey

My understanding is that the CA-2000 is the Japanese "domestic" version of the CA-2010, so they are the same/identical amp.
Plz correct me if I'm wrong. I have the CA-2000 (refurb'd), yes, a nice amp. I like the CA-1000 and still need to refub my A-1...

Apart from the wattage, does the CA-1000/2010 sound better than the CA-1000?

The three amps CA-1000/CA-1010/CA-2010 are all good, which sounds better depends on what's important to you, there are some trade offs to be made. IMO the CA-1000 sounds more musical (richer/fuller tones) however a little bass shy. The CA-2010 is a little on the neutral/dry side though good sound stage. The CA-1010 is probably in the middle regarding tones (ie, not as dry) and not quite the sound satge, it has great drive and is something of a beast. I've got/play all three, thought about selling each though would miss their strong points. Buying a 1010 or 2010 would not be a backward step.

How about the CA-1000 vs CA-1000ii? I thought I saw a post of yours that said you may have liked the 1000ii a little better. I've been looking at the differences based on the schematics (that are probably as reliable as an Ikea manual) that appear to have slight capacitor differences on the tone and function board.

Yes I do like the CA-1000ii better than the CA-1000 though the difference is subtle and in broard terms would say they are much the same amp, ie, not the same (big) differences than with the 1010 or 2010. Since that post I had a listen to a guys CA-1000, refurb'd in Japan, hard to beat, that guy has upgraded to a new Luxman amp (USD5-7k?), happy but he still misses that CA-1000

What do you find these differences to be?

Yeah, it's very subjective/my opinion... so feel free to dismiss. Suggest try seperates, recently picked up a C-60, ran it with the CA-1010 thought there was a noticeable improvement in soundstage/tones... My CX-1 is good but the CX-1000 better

Hi, what kind of amp the CA-2010 is it US and Canadian model or European model because from my understanding there are differences between the two models because the service manual talking about two different Part Number of main board only on the 2010 version not talking about the 2000 Japanese version. As I saw on the net that there's a 2010 model that is different from the picture of the 2010 that you added. Please look at the one that I attached.
I'm saying that because I recently bought the 2000 model and people saying that those 2 models are equal and I'm not sure if I can use the 2010 SM for servicing my CA-2000. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I used the CA-2010 sm to refurb my CA-2000, from memory there was only one cap that was difference. Generally the JDM have the better parts, the export models are generally dumbed down. On the other hand the 2010 is later so it may have some improvements.

OK to use the CA-2010 sm.

What are the parts with the wires on the heatsink of the CA-2010 on pics that I've attached? Because on the CA-2000 they are not there.

My immediate thought was the temperature compensating transistors, you could read the part numbers off the transistors to check. avionic will know if you wish to page him.
