They look similar to wharfedale obsidian 600 towers. http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/product.php?pid=33 The jamos that were already posted are pretty darn close too. If they sound good, that's all that matters.

there is an obvious "patch" right above the inputs where a sticker (label) was at one time. Faint leftover adhesive within the tiny (now blank) space about 1" x 1/2" which reminds me of the tacky laminated badges used by Polk. You know, the ones that always fall off. However, I've never seen any Polk towers with smooth beveled edges at the top sides...yet.

Your reference to "open ended, bottomless banter" is the opposite of why I like Audiokarma so much. I have nothing but respect for the many knowledgeable and articulate folks who share their views and advice on so many topics. I will take a few more close-up, detailed pics and post them seeing as how this thread is still (barely) alive. One of my customers said they reminded him of the twin towers (9/11).
In that case, soak them in jet fuel, light them and see if the drivers melt or not.
