NAD 6240 Cassette display

Ok, Im an idiot. I was so worried about the display not working and trying everything to fix it, come to find out, the left channel has no output! No output, no display! DUH! Any ideas???
 
Oop... haha. OK, is it dead silence in that channel, no hum?

The lowest hanging fruit now is dirty internal connectors/controls. Get your hands on a good electronic switch spray cleaner if you don't have a can already (I use MG 404B; others swear by DeOxit D5). Soak that long switch in the middle of the main board and work it back and forth a bunch of times. Do the same to the tape type and noise reduction switches and the play trim potentiometer. Unplug the 6-wire connector from the heads, spray those pins and reconnect firmly.
 
How good is the sound of the other channel? If it's a clear strong sound, there's not much more I'm prepared to suggest without an oscilloscope to start tracing audio signals.

But if it's kinda muffled, one last "shotgun" measure is to replace C6 (as mentioned before) and also C127 and C128. Same advice applies on all of them: they are rated at 10v but should be replaced with something rated at least 16v, while keeping the capacitance values the same.

Replaced the caps. Still no left channel. I give up. I'll sell it as a parts unit. It's not worth getting any more involved in it. Thanks for all of the suggestions!!
 
Ah, that's a shame. You might PM @MRL_Audio . These are very worth repairing, if someone has the tools and interest. Glad you're not trashing it.
