NAD 7240PE Low Sound At Full Volume

Hello everyone, I just acquired a NAD 7240PE. It turns on and the FM Tuner is able to pick up channels fine, but there is only extremely low sound at full volume with speakers or headphones. I have already cleaned all the pots and buttons with DeOxit with no improvement. I know there are many threads on this but was wondering what to do next. There does not appear to be any obvious bad components. The fuses and caps look fine. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The first things to check on those NADs is (1) solder joints, and (2) burnt components in the power supply.

See my experience with a 7155's FM tuner here, solved by re-flowing a solder joint.

Hopefully it's just something like that!
 
Speaker relays are another common issue. The contacts can get so worn that they don't really make contact anymore.
 
Sounds like the Pre Out / Main In jumpers are missing. Look for the little steel jumpers on the back or use a stereo pair of RCA cables.

I just tested my phone as an input on the CD, Phono, and Video input, still no change. I know for certain my phone plays on both Lafayettes.

On the phono input with my phone there was some crackling when turning up the volume.

Both jumpers are on the back.

I might be overlooking, but where are the relays on this unit?
 
Update: I just took the bottom cover off and most solder joints look intact, no sign of any loose component terminals at the solder joints.
 
I'm using the headphone jack on the front, when I turn the volume on my phone up it gets louder, but the volume on the receiver does nothing.
 
There are a couple of switches on the back panel. Make sure those are clean as well. Also, make sure the interconnects are present. Yeah, yeah, we are all members but that is always on the checklist.

Wait no, I assume you have a cord going from a male 3.5mm headphone jack and splits into a L&R (white / red) pair of male RCA connections?

So you plug the headphone part into your phone (like you're listening to a pair of headphones). Then you plug those RCA leads into the main inputs on the back.

When you do that, the headphone output, the volume control, all the input buttons, will not matter. Your phone will be playing directly into your amp (and then your speakers).

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding what you tried.

Get out your magnifying glass.. aged joints.. and nads are notorious for bad caps.. if no joy..

getting there.. just don't f/up and make notes. one step at a time.

Your fine, I had the 3.5 to RCA from my phone plugged into Main In on the back, but tried listening over headphones from the front panel first and then plugged a pair of speakers into A on the back. Same result, increasing my phone volume is the only thing that made it louder. The volume on the unit did not do anything.
