Nagaoka MP200. Anyone using MP500 stylus on this cart? Your experience? Opinion?

I have a Nagaoka mp-200. It's mounted on a 1983 LP12 Valhalla with Basik LVX arm.
When the stylus needs replacement. I was considering a mp-500 stylus. It's a cemented Microline on a boron cantiver. The mp-200 is an elliptical on boron cantilever.

My hearing may not pickup all of 8k+ frequencies that the Microline might add. But was thinking the Microline would give better life. The added cost of going with mp-500 over mp-200 is as little as around $70.
I have read that MP-500 cart has a screw holding stylus in position. The MP-200 does not.

I've been running a JN-P500 on an MP150 body (same as MP200) with stellar results for a while....more than 2 years. (It has a nude fine line profile on a boron cantilever....it's a line contact type stylus but not a microline). I flat out love it...it sounds just right to me with my modified Bugle 3 phono stage. It's how I've wanted all my other carts to sound. A replacement JN-500 is already on hand to take over when this one wears out.

The screw is a non-issue. I just left it off, and the friction fit is just fine. The MP200 body weighs slightly less, so I added a blob of sticky tack under the headshell to compensate. There are a couple of good Ebay suppliers who sell them for < $250. 000_4196b.jpg

Is the sound brighter? Have a MP-200 and like the sound.

MP200 has much better stylus than MP150. The 200 cantilever is Boron and very thin! The MP300 & MP500 have different inner. The 300 has the same stylus as 200.

:thumbsup: That boron cantilever is an excellent upgrade. That fine line tip has a nice subtle sparkle without even a hint of glare...it's all I could ask for at this point. :cool:

Yes, my MP200 has nice sparkle. My Denon DL-103 really has a sparkle to the diamond, that I'm currently using.
