I had a complete active-Naim system for quite a few years and enjoyed it greatly until a divorce managed to separate me form almost all of my gear about 8 years ago. I always enjoyed the Naim for its groove and funk ability, it just got the music right for the most part. While expensive and a lot of boxes and wire to contend with, I have missed it greatly.
Over the last half dozen or so years I managed to enjoy some ARC gear and a few different speakers like MMG's, Ohms and a couple short lived others along the way. After dealing with some serious health issues over the last year, I decided it was time to just simplify things, do away with my ever growing pile of gear.
I ended up purchasing a Naim Uniti streamer after a good bit of listening and playing around with things, and am extremely happy overall with this all in one setup. While not comparing overall of course to my former active system from Naim, I do feel that it retains enough of the sonic goods that I do value, and am enjoying it. The big thing was that I was bale to get an extremely good purchase on this one, new in the box with full warranty, as the newer Uniti2 had just come out.
I am currently listening to various speakers to accompany the Uniti, currently is a pair of Direct Acoustics Silent Speaker 2's, kind of like a Shahinian Arc on the cheap, but I am quite pleased with this speaker, very open and involving on the end of the little Naim. I also will be auditioning another new comer to the US, the Larsen Model 4, a quasi omni-style speaker. Very small cabinet, but may fit in with our downsizing efforts of late, and I tend to love the semi/omni sounds. Will keep you all posted.
Naim isn't for everyone for sure, but they do make good quality gear with great support for the long haul, a couple things I truly value these days. Tim
