Nakamichi System One

I acquired a Nakamichi System One and pick it up tomorrow. I’m new to Nakamichi and this will be the first system with a separate amp and pre-amp so really looking forward to it.

But, there is no user or service manuals. I found them at hifiengine but I’m getting the ubiquitous “fraud from AT&T mobility” error when I try to register. So, if you know where I might be able to download the manuals I’d greatly appreciate a reply,

thanks in advance

The instructions on HiFi Engine only cover the rack assembly and timer programming, so probably wouldn't be of much help.

This thread may have some useful info. And we can probably walk you through anything you can't figure out.

Appreciate the link and the offer for additional help - I may need to take you up on it. Thanks

Photos and your impressions would be appreciated after you have it set up.

Finally got it cleaned up (Deoxit on all controls on the pre amp) and it sounds really good with my HPM-100s. The tape has some serious issues and will likely go to the shop - there’s an 11 month wait unless I can find an alternative. I haven’t tested the timer yet.

The original owner found all of the manuals which I’m very thankful for. The system one came with a Beogram 4002 TT which works and also sounds great.

I uploaded some pics so hope they display.

Does it sound respectable for a all in one stack? Or better?

The seller (who was the original owner) found the manuals for each component do I lucked out. I know I’m late in saying but Thanks for the reply

The B&O should just about be worth what you paid for the entire System One.

We might be even more capable of helping if we knew your location. You can fill in whatever you wish in your profile.

Looks like I missed some comments on how much the system cost?

I never posted what it cost. The estate sale was asking 3600 and was not discounted on the last day (normally 50% off). I put in a bid LESS than the 50% off and it was accepted. So, less than 1800

I’ve monitored these forums for a while but pretty new to posting. I’ll look into adding info to my profile- thanks for the suggestion

And so is my sister and her family.
Thanks for the update. Maybe someone knows a Nak cassette tech nearby.
My Dragon was recently refreshed by Perry in VA.
There’s a highly rated service/repair company about 30 miles from me but they’re backlogged 11 months. That’s a long time to wait so hopefully someone on here can recommend someone else, I wouldn’t mind driving a couple hours but shipping scares me
