I've had one of my Nak 1000zxl with "NakDoc" for going on 5 yrs. Hoping to actually get it back this week.
 
Congrats! I've had a number of Nak pieces over the years, all of which have sounded great to me. None of them have been of the quality of what you just acquired.
 
I know an excellent NAK repair specialist in Idaho. He was the regional NAK service trainer back in the day, he retired and opened his own shop in Twin Falls. He serviced my NAK 680 deck a few years ago, no problems since. I had to mail mine too. Just spent the several hours to pack it up correctly, no problem on that end. Reach out if you want his number to call him.
 
I’ve owned 2 system ones and all the 6xx components. As far as the deck I would try to find the 600II version if you are going to spend money on it. The 600II has several worthwhile improvements over the 600. With that said, this series Nak decks have good electronics but the transport is certainly not one of Nak’s best. Enjoy!
