Here we go again. Maybe this time, we will finally have a winner. Anyway, by now you all should now the drill. But I'll go over it again just as a CMA measure and in case anyone who didn't participate in any of the last rounds decides to try this time.

So here we go. Attached are links to 7 (seven) YouTube videos of one of my X-2000R's playing. The first person to CORRECTLY identify the artist and title of ALL SEVEN songs will win one of the items shown below. Nothing to buy. No shipping to pay, so long as you are within the United States. Non-US AK'ers are welcome to join in, but if they win, then because of the extra charges and paperwork involved, standard shipping charges will apply and I will ask that I be reimbursed for them. The contest will run for 24 hours (one full calendar day) from the time stamped on this message. Contest will end when someone identifies all seven songs, or after 24 hours has elapsed. Whichever comes first.

To maintain fairness and transparency, ONLY messages/entries posted here for all to see will be considered valid. Please do not e-mail your tries/guesses to me via E-mail, private message, or "hidden" message.

To spice things up and make it more exciting, I have also included three extra "bonus" songs that can be used for extra prizes. Here are the rules:

First person to correctly identify ALL SEVEN of the original songs can choose from ONE of the prizes.

First person to correctly identify ALL SEVEN of the original songs AND identify the bonus song(s) can choose up to three additional items pictured, one per song. In other words, if you get all seven of the original songs, plus two of the 'bonus' songs, you may choose three of the pictured items. There are 8 (eight) items offered here. The maximum potential 'win' is any 4 (four) of them.

The items are:

1. A NOS/unused and factory sealed roll of Maxell XLI 35-180B 10" x 3600' reel to reel tape.

2. A NOS/unused and factory sealed Maxell MR-10 empty 10" metal reel.

3. An unused Quantegy #407 10" x 3600' tape

4. A NOS/unused and factory sealed TDK GX 35-180B 10" x 3600' reel to reel tape.

5. A mint condition 12 screw 3M "precision" 1/4" reel filled with virgin/unused Quantegy #457 3600' reel to reel tape, with yellow/red leaders attached.

6. Two-2 packs (for a total of four tapes) of Maxell XLI-S C-90 Type I cassette tapes.

7. 3 (three) individual Maxell XLII-S C-90 Type II cassette tapes.

8. 2 (two) individual Maxell MX C-90 Type IV cassette tapes.

Good luck!

So I take it no one was really interested in taking part? Only two replies. And looking at the video stats (number of views compared with this topic) means that not many people even bothered trying. Wow. And even with pictures of the goodies attached, interest seemed lackluster. I figured that most of the songs should've been pretty easy. Oh well.

I am in the same boat, got the first five, but I am stumped on the last 2. I for one enjoy the challenges you post Des-Lab. Thank you for the time and effort you have put into this.

Well I'm good for about 5 of 7 and I think I could figure out the other two but my wife would kill me if I spent all afternoon trying to find the tunes on the net. The previous ones were so hard I doubt I could have figured them out no matter how much time I spent.

Keep doing this, it's fun.

i am really stumped with #7 i have not a clue . this was really fun ! i hope there are more of same to come .

# 7 is beginning to sound more famular but that could be from playing that clip over and over again ...errrrrr

as for the 3 bonus songs ...... notta one

Thanks for the opportunity to compete for some very nice prizes. I too am stumped by #7.

I've got all but #7, which just doesn't ring any bells. No clue on the Bonus tracks, except that #3 sounds a little "Thin", but I like #1...

Well, Des, most of them were easy. It's just that not ALL of them were easy. :D The problem IMO is that not enough people see your post within a 24 hour period. And you're posting in turntables/tape which is understandable because the prize is tape, but this forum has a limited audience to begin with. So either make the contest last longer, or perhaps try posting it in the Music forum which has a larger audience and where the focus is on the music. I think most people who check in there would be up for a contest no matter what the prize is.

sorry, dude. I only knew 2 of those songs, and I don't use tape. Your reel to reel seems cool... kinda makes me want one.

I thought about that, but you answered my question: not everyone is a tape head. I figured ALL of us on AK love music, but not all of us are tape users, hence why I chose the tape forum.

So you guys give up yet? Although technically the contest is over, you can still take stabs at it. Or else I can extend it by adding a different song.

2. The Who - Teenage Wasteland
Oh, I never knew that was the title. I thought it was "Out Here In The Fields." I guess you can tell I wasn't a big Who fan. :D

Got about as far as the rest of you: Got the first six, then stumped on number seven. Got NONE of the bonus tracks, but #3 is vaguely familiar... I think I could get three, if I spent a while "tracking it down" with comparative listenings (I probably have it on a seldom-listened to disc), but don't have the time for that now.

After reading Jonman's guess on #7, I'll have to go back and listen to it again...but if it is right, he still got it first (not me!).

This is/was fun! Love that R2R spinning away there, too! :thmbsp:

I appreciate the effort, Des-Lab. This is fun. I got most of them as some of the other did. One reason for a seeming lack of response may be the holiday weekend - lot's of folks out (like myself). Keep it up!
