Just curious.... I,m reviving a KLh model 20 turntable and radio and am wondering if anyone has heard of Nashville caps? The power supply and filter caps are Nashvilles and I,ll be replacing them with Nichicons . I havent run into this brand capacitor before and am just curious if they were a popular brand at one time or maybe rebadged caps? The rest of the caps in this unit are unmarked black caps with a few gray ones marked " cemx" . Thanks for any thoughts! Chuck

Are they the same thing as Richey capacitors?

Not sure! The only thing I could find was a few sellers on Ebay selling lots of 10 - 20 vintage Nashville electronics caps . Some were NOS and some were listed as vintage. Not too much out there on these.

All the ones I have seen were in old gear from the 60s. They were all axials and most, if not all, were bad in some shape or form. Some were physically cracked and broken. All were off in value.

Can you post a photo of these caps?

Thanks!

Found this photo online. I’ve never heard of the Callins capacitor, either. :)

DB Cooper tie:

In 2011, new lab tests revealed the tie Cooper's discarded before he jumped contained tiny pieces of Titanium, a rare metal in 1971. A patent from Nashville Electronics reveal it made a small electronic part that contained the extremely pure form of titanium found on Cooper's tie. "That shows you that he is a very rare individual indeed to work in an industry where they worked with titanium and would have had processes that would have produced this particle found in his tie,” said Rollins, an engineer and author from New Hampshire who wrote a book about how Cooper escaped in 2016.

Very interesting! I guess they couldn't find DB in the list of previous employees.

:(

If you're gonna replace those caps, you'd be best advised to also replace the carbon composition resistors. They're notorious for changing values over time.

Yes, the ones in the 50-year-old Heathkit quad amplifier kit I just built were ALL way off.

They absorb moisture and that ruins them.

Luckily, there weren't that many of them as, by that time, Heath was mostly including carbon film resistors with their kits.
