Any info on this turntable would be greatly appreciated.Looks identical to a Neat P-58 except this one has a speed adjust knob in upper left corner.I am using it on my project and would like to know a bit more about it if possible.IMG_6131.jpg IMG_6132.jpg IMG_6133.jpg IMG_6131.jpg IMG_6132.jpg IMG_6133.jpg

Neat P58H user here, but I never handled the TP51. It does look very similar to the P58H + speed adjust. If it's an eddy current/magnetic speed adjust system, it gets closer to G301/401/TD124 technology. If the motor is similar to the P58H, then it is suspended via springs. No rubber grommets to perish.

If the idler is supple, has no kinks or flat spots, just clean up the unit and bearing well and put new lubrication. I've tried both lithium grease and 5W-20. Either one works well IME.

Add a Denon DL103 + step up or a Nagaoka MP100 on that fine classic SME tonearm, you are good to go!

Happy listening!

I was thing of 5w-20 since I have some synthetic left over from last oil change. It is eddy current adjust, speed is dead on.I replaced the strobe and cleaned the idler wheel.
What is the best way to lube the motor?

I am a fan. Have a couple and would say these hold their ground quite well against ROK and other well know idlers of the day. I think they generally remain below the radar though. They also had a series of nice arms and cartridges. Have a few of each in my collection. I think you ring this punches far above what you paid.

As suggested above, sewing machine oil works but I've also used 5W-20 leftover.

got quite a bit accomplished today, though not completely finished.I am quite satisfied with it.View attachment 1541446 View attachment 1541447 View attachment 1541448 View attachment 1541449

Wooo! that's great looking!

I need to get me one of the platter weights with a level on it...

I use the AT618A:

Have a buddy who has a few of the ones like you have, they don't seem heavy enough for me tho. The AT is actually lower priced and weighs exactly 618g. Damn thing is solid.

I only get to use it on my Kenwood as the Linn is a floating platter so adding that much weight would require me to either adjust the suspension or the arm... (need to get a clamp for it)…

Anyway, great set up!

Hello hugo454,

Yes, your TP-51 very similar to Neat P-58 turntable. The speed adjustment know at rear means your table doesn't have a hysteresis stable to speed variation motor, but has instead a just induction motor with speed adjustment

yes, I agree.
I currently enjoy it more than my scoutmaster, go figure.
Don't see too many of these around, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to it.
