Need a speaker Dr!

Are you are sure the voice coil moves freely in the gap?

If the VC was impeded it would cause a metallic sound. I would not be surprised if with new surrounds you're actually hearing the speaker the way it was meant to be heard or surrounds could use a break in period.

OK test results are in!!!!! and I'm stoked to say the Advents are back! Well one and a half is. Ive lost a tweeter during the whole process and its been blown (burnt VC).
The one with the working tweeter sounds great. So the big question now is where can i find an Advent Legacy 3 or Heritage tweeter here in Aus. I suspect its off to eBay international to source one unless anyone knows any vintage suppliers that i can contact??

Are your tweeters the square faced tweeters, or the rectangular tweeters with no name, name on the right as you are looking at them, or underneath. Seems like they came in those 4 flavors. A pic of what you have would help.

Sometimes the voice coil gets pinched enough where it won't move on one end, but does move on the other end, so you don't hear any scraping. The electrical signal is strong enough that you hear *something*, but it's muffled. Had this happen to tweeters before too.

eBay item number: 311446694557

eBay item number: 151944802442 There's also these speakers, condition unsure. But they are about 15 miles from where I live so could contact and check them out, if tweeters ok, could part them for you if you need them.
