Need Fisher 500C help

Just bought a 500C and an Elac Miracord 10H for $150. I'm thrilled! Turntable is in excellent condition. The Fisher has a few issues mainly the fact that I think the right channel is out. The unit is very clean, but I removed, cleaned, and reinstalled the tubes. The sound improved in the left but still nothing from the right. All outputs work. All fuses are good. I even rotated some tunes to see if that helped. Nothing.

I am no expert, not even close, so what is my next step? I don't know of any good qualified techs in the DC area.

your going to want to do a basic restore if it hasnt been done. besides that, one channel being out could be something as simple as a dirty volume dial. Lots of help will come your way here. I restored my 500c, and its awesome.
 
Indeed. Tube gear needs some TLC to be reliable. There are kits to do it on this model if you're up for some DIY work.

I hate to volunteer anyone, but there is at least one well versed Fisher guy in the DC area. I'll let him chime in if he's willing and able to take on another project.
 
Check the simple things first. Work all the buttons and controls with deoxit. A lot of times, this clears up channel drop-outs. Swap some of the same tubes from one channel to the other such as 12AX7/12AU7/6EU7 type tubes.

Look at the 12AX7 tubes in a dark room and make sure both halves inside the tube are lit up. In my experience, I have seen where one side has burned out but the other side stayed lit. Just something to check.

These are the easy fixes. For a more in depth fix, you will need to do some basic troubleshooting with a meter. If you're not comfortable with doing it yourself, then it's time for the shop.
 
So I played around and cleaned a few more things. Now I have sound out of that "bad channel" but it is very faint. I'm going to order a restoration kit and see if that improves anything.
 
have you pulled and re-installed the reverb jumpers? They aren't pushed in far enough to hit the rim of their RCA sockets are they ? Doing that will short out the signal, and a bad connection there will simply not pass signal.
