Need help hooking up receiver/speakers/amp

This is my first post on AK. I have pieced together stereo stuff over the last five years. I have a 40'x100' welding shop in the bottom of my barn. Concrete floor and granite wall. Now the stereo equipment I have is:
-Onkyo TX-NR626 receiver
-2 BIC Acoustech HT-75 tower speakers
-2 BOSE Series IV 501 speakers
-2Infinity Referenc EL Bookshelf Speakers
-1 Paradigm center speaker v2
-1 Klipsch KSW 10 subwoofer

I received a kenwood km-992 amp. I have no idea how to use it or if I would need something else with it. Reason being is I have 6 polk audio satelite speakers and 2 paradigm surround speakers that are just sitting in a box. I want to be able to get the best sound utilizing what I have and if I have to buy more stuff to get more speakers properly powered and going then ok. To give you an idea of how much I know about this stuff. I currently have the first cluster of components hooked up to the receiver. A y splitter at the subout on receiver to a redwhite cord going to line in on sub. I have speaker wires going from front out on receiver to the BIC HT75S. I twisted speaker wire together with each end going into those speakers. To then run the twisted wire to the sub with corresponding +\- terminal. I would appreciate any advice on how to make this setup work. I also have no ideo on amps or if I need a preamp with it.. thanks.

First off, welcome to AK.

If you go to the site, click on 'Downloads' and you will be able to download your owners manual. That should help you quite a bit with regards to hooking up a bunch of speakers.
Normally with an amp you need to feed it a signal via a pre amplifier or something that has it's own volume control.

You can sign up for free and download it. That should help you understand how to hook up and use the amp.
I don't have a surround system so I am afraid I wouldn't be of much help with that. Kinda seems to me that you would be fine with just hooking up either the Bose or the BIC's. If you are just looking for some tunes in the shop then you wouldn't necessarily need the amp. The receiver should do fine on it's own.
I am sure others much smarter than I will be along shortly to give you a hand.
 
Not sure of your speakerS but wiring speaker wire together along with other speakers can give you a lot of grief.
Unless I'm reading it wrong

And looking at your room, I am not sure I would want to have a lot of speakers hanging around. There are a lot of hard and reflective surfaces and it might get to be a bit echoey in there. Why not save the receiver and all those speakers for an in the house surround sound system. :dunno:
You can use the amp. out in the shop with the Bose or BIC's but you will need some sort of pre amp. or you could use an Ipod or CD player (that has a volume control) and use their volume controls.
 
I suggest that you get the operator's manual for the TX-NR626 receiver. Don't just wire different speakers together as you can cause bad impedance matches. The Onkyo is a 7.1 receiver; 2 main(front) speakers, 2 rear speakers, 2 side speakers, a center channel speaker and a sub-woofer. Try this combo:

BIC towers as the main speakers, paradigm center speaker ( in front between Bics) ,Polk speakers for the sides and back speakers, and the Klipsch for the sub woofer. You should purchase 16 gauge speaker wire in enough length to reach all the speakers. Wire them in phase: plus to plus with the white wire as plus.

You can add one stereo system in another area by using the line out to the Kenwood and have it feed the Infinity Reference speakers.

Whammy johnda! Would I line out from zone 2 to Amp. Then could I have the two infinity bookshelf on amp's channel A. Then have The Two bose on channel B.
 
I hear you buckybadger, but I spend 90% ofmy day in the shop. Reason thati wantas many hooked up as possible is Iwant to be able to enjoy Clapton and SRV while my a ir sanders are screaming and my compressor is kicked in. Everytime I let off the trigger to listen to them lay it down, I'm always thinking about way s to change it up so I can hear them and enjoy them without stopping
 
The channel a and b would work, BUT not at the same time. Only use A or only use B, using them together could overheat the amp,
