Need help identifying Speakers

Ok, another clue here’s the speaker with the grill off.

Anybody have an idea now? They are upside down by the way.

They look nice. I have no idea what they are.

How did you (or your parents) get the grill off? It looks like there are 6 dollops of glue that held the grill down.

Not sure, my mom just texted me. I’ll ask her when we speak.

Can’t find anything that looks like these online...yet.
 
No one? I thought the pics would help but I can’t find anything that matches.

Maybe these are stray dogs?
 
Those look like CTS drivers. Everybody used CTS drivers, from notable manufacturers, to house brands.

What throws me is that the woofer has an inverted surround, which CTS would probably do for you if you ordered enough of them.
 
I think they are just generic/house brand speakers. What's that little round label on the backside, bottom right hand corner?
 
Well, after looking at about 10 bazillion pictures online, I’ve found...

Nothing.

Still have no clue who made these speakers. Anyone have any more ideas! The last suggestion for Sylvania gave me a few results that were slightly similar but no matches.

Now, this become an obsession! I have to know!
 
I'm going to go with house brand as well. Nothing wrong with that, some of them were quite good, but it does make selling them difficult. But definitely not KLH.
 
I thought that was a CTS woofer at first glance but it should have an accordion surround rather than inverted. But CTS could have made it. What puzzles me is that the woofer looks so much NEWER than the rest of the speaker. Any chance the woofers were replaced, maybe when the foam rotted on the originals? Either that or they were just very well kept with no dust or sunlight or anything.

I think house brand. Once you can get the drivers out and see who made them, and get a look at the crossover (it may not have much of one), there may be some clues.

I was thinking the same thing at first, but if the grills had never been removed, it's not completely unheard of. And treated cloth surrounds would be period correct.

Thanks for the thoughts. I really am completely stumped. Can someone explain what a "house brand" is? I'm assuming it's a kind of term for generic speaker?

As far as the woofer goes, I am 100 percent sure they have never been replaced. My dad purchased these in 1969 or 1970 as I said and I grew up with these speakers in our house. In fact, I'm 99.9 percent sure that this is the first time the grill has been removed in nearly 50 years. These were kept inside and pretty much away from sunlight. There is no how no way my father would have paid anyone or let anyone open them up to update them in any way. He still listens to classical music on them in his home office.

But, as I said, I am positive they have never been worked on in any way. Which makes this even more intriguing. I'll ask my dad again he remembers anything else.

He does say he vaguely recalls the salesperson (these were purchased at a "warehouse" in NYC) saying something about them being KLH but for some reason they had no markings on them for sales or legal reasons. I'm beginning to think that my dad got scammed all those years ago. I'm curious to get inside them and see what, if anything, it says on the components.

So you are thinking they may be 50 year old white van speakers (or the late '60s equivalent)?
