Need Help Marantz 2252b Relay Getting Hot

No. I unsoldered the leg of the diode that connected to the relay. Then I soldered a 100 ohm/2W resistor in series with the diode (i.e. soldered one end of the resistor to the diode lead that I just unsoldered, and soldered the other end of the resistor to the board where you just unsoldered the diode lead.) Since the 100 ohm resistor will dissipate heat, I mounted it above the board like similar resistors next to it. I also put heat shrink tubing on the resistor lead that went into the board. I replaced the diode with a new one at the same time.
 
Going to use the board/part #s to make sure I have this right.
Is the diode at the bottom of the 100 ohm/2W resistor at R776 and obscured in the shot by the blue wire?

OK, here is a better photo with some annotations. I hope it's easier to understand. I replaced the diode like you have with the black colored one in my photo thinking it might have been the problem.

:thumbsup: I thought the black diode was tubing in the earlier photo. Have it right now. If I add the resistor, I should up the cap on the back from 10 to 47uf as well.

Check your relay coil voltage on the back of the board first to see if it matches high like what I measured in an earlier post before adding the resistor.
