Need Help With a Scott 208!

Probably time to wrap this thread up but I thought I'd add one more thing. I've listened to six different amps through the Hales. Two were tube, the Dynaco and the 208. The other four were ss. Both tube amps sounded fantastic but I was 'listening to the tube amps'. The Marantz 2252 was second best among the ss. But the Sansui made me really realize what system synergy is all about. I forgot about everything but the sound. I would love to find that synergistic match with a tube amp, though I expect it would have to be pretty high-powered. I'm lucky enough to live somewhere that has an audio store that lets people audition equipment at home for three days for a nominal fee. I think I'm gonna try out some stuff so that if something better comes along I can at least know what it is. Cheers!
 
Well just wanted to resurrect this thread long enough to let you all know that I’ve come full circle. I’ve sold the 9090db and acquired a mostly restored lk-72. It sounds great and after the trades and sales is basically free. I’ll be posting a new thread soon and show pics and try to find out what remains to be done. And thank you all!
