need help with new infinity IRS gamma

i bought a pair of infinity gamma with servo control.
first i connect them to my pioneer a09. sound is impressive but i miss the lows of the rs-2.5. with the onkyo m5090 same problem. there is bass but they don't come alive.
i don't understand the irs servo yet and i don't have the 4 pin din cables. so i used the rs crossover for bi amping. and then with bi amping the gammas came alive. perfect bass no mather what amplifier i use. everything flat at 0db but what a difference. i have a schematic from the servo and the connections but i don't have a user manual.

for bi amping i taked the wires on the back away but leave the switch at non servo mode. there is also a hidden switch normal or extended.
can someone explain what the knobs realy do and how i use the servo?

I have the epsilons, just got them, don't know if they work the same as the gamma's, i think you have to use the 4 pin cables or the servo don't work.
 
The 4-pin cables are crucial, as the servo won't work at all without them.

Until you get them, I think there's a switch on the back of the speakers that will turn them into Deltas. The bass will sound better in that mode until you get the cables.

They're supposed to be bi-amped. What amps are you using for the tops and bottoms?
 
i don't believe thats a manual, nice to read but it won't tell me how to use the servo.
the 4 pin cable is needed but i don't have one. then there are 2 inputs 2 bypass and 4 low freq servo outputs +0 and -0. so what cinch go to the high freq amp ?

the amps are the pioneer m90a and the onkyo m5090. they both sound nice at top and bottom. in bi amp mode whatever amp i use for the bass it sound good.
 
On mine you use the bypass to go to the high frequency amp but i just go from my preamp to the amp for the high frequency because when i removed the cover on the scu the input just looped out to the bypass and in my manual it said that it was like that for convenience, so i figured why use two connections or rsa jacks when you can use one, my speakers high frequencies are crossed over from within the speaker, don't know if the gamma is the same though
 
Did you click on were it says (here) to download a copy of the manual, it is Located directly below the pic of the scu with the cover removed, it shows you how to hook the system up many different ways

cdfac: the pioneer M-90a has 2x800 watt dynamic power at 2 ohm. right now i'm using the 35 watt a-09 for the bass. i compared with the rs2.5 and i think it is similar only the irs go deeper and higher. i'm used to listening to the 2.5 against the wall in bi-amp mode. the problem is not that i haven't enough bass. in bi-amp mode low and high at 0db should be equal. i don't use extra db. but in bi-amp mode everything is perfect. you are very right to use the lowest frequency. i believe the high input can handle full range starting at 15 db.

the irs servo is designed for these speakers so i should use this of course. i'm working on it. with 3 little children in the house i had not the chance to listen at more than 1 watt so i don't worry about the amplifiers. i believe in bi amp mode there should be power enough.

owkay, the 4 pin din connectors are no more :tears: but they gave me 5pin din connectors with new sockets instead. is there a difference in the infinity accelerometer feedback cable and a normal cable ? are such long cables not bad for the music ? i can't wait to connect the servo :D

Please don't let this thread deteriorate into a discussion of said seller, or the mods will shut it down. As it stands, he-who-should-not-be-named; has not been named, so lets keep it that way. Look in AK feedback forum for answers.

Make your own. The cable is nothing special, the ends are generic. I can prolly dig up which ones to order. They're a buck or less. Chris (Cdfac) can give you the 4 pin-outs from the manuals I gave him with his Gammas. Others can also point you to making the cables yourself. You'll have under $50 into everything (probably wayy under unless you go crazy on the 4 conductor cable).
 
After looking at the Gamma manual, the servo cable looks to use a standard 4 pin din connector. It shouldn't be too hard to order connectors, some 4 conductor cable, and wire a set. Maybe okeeteekid could test his servo cables with a multimeter, to make sure it's a simple point to point, pin 1 to pin 1, etc. wiring scheme.

Thanks for pointing that out, i do not know the seller, seen the cables available on ebay and was just trying to help out, i just checked ak feedback forums and got the answers, I DEFINITALLY WOULD NOT BUY THE CABLES FROM HIM, sorry for posting up the info..
 
thank you everyone for this great help. changing the 4 pin din sockets to 5 pin din sockets should not be difficult. they look and are equal, only 5 pins. i rather use a brand new cable than an old one. after all the problems with my servo cable between the onkyo p3090 and m5090. i hope tomorrow i find the time to solder everything properly together. maybe i should use my pioneer A91D for the high and my pioneer M90A for the low.

There is little doubt that the M90A is a good choice for the bass, because of its low-impedance stability. I wouldnot think the A91D would do nearly as well for the bottoms, but will probably sound fine on the tops.

If you can find a tube or autoformer amp for the tops, that would be even better!

The lows on the Gammas, when using the servo, are not a very difficult load. It's the xover and the panels that introduce very low impedance loads on the IRS (under 2 ohm at certain freqs). The LF part of the xover is removed electronically when using the servo for bass management.

I had the overall best luck with my panels running big tubes (1st McIntosh 2102 then finally Mesa Baron). Surprisingly the vfet B-2 did quite nicely. My B-2x went into protection often and easily. Many/most SS amps are not up to task both sonically and impedance compatible 'cept universal big-guns like Krell/Levinson & the like. But again, Chris's big-gun Classe couldn't run them full range. Bottom line is not only are the Gammas much better with the servo, it also opens you up to many more amp possibilities.

I have Betas, instead of Gammas, so I didn't know the panels were a low-impedance problem too. I would have guessed they'd be more like Kappa 9s. How low do the Gamma bass units dip with and without the servo?
 
I run Adcom 565 monos for the lows and a 585 stereo on the highs of my Gamma's.
Never had a problem with the 565's.
The 585 250wpc stereo does run hot driving the panels,but has never shut down.
I would like to eventually try running something heftier than the dual Adcom 565 mono at 300wpc on the lows but dont know what-any suggestions! Eventually Mesa Baron tubes upstairs,would be my pick.
As from what I have read the Mesa Baron tubes sound quite sweet,and do justice.
As far as NumbDivers comments,on the load differences between Delta and Gamma,he is quite right.
The passive crossover is what gave the reputation,of what these speakers and the entire IRS and Kappa line do to amps.
But hey,what a sound.

As for the servo cables,I have experimented with all sorts with no varing results unless an unshielded cable was used.
