Clearly made with some care, so its possible that the innards are good enough to justify the enclosures. If you don't snap them up, we'll never know...

Update on speaker ID...

So, the mystery speaker is from get this...Montgomry Wards!

Also, this is funny...I emailed the seller and asked if they were in working condition or are they just the cabinets. After all he's only asking 20 bucks for the pair.

His reponse..."Hi, You plug them into the unit and they play. Bring a unit over and we can plug them in"...I guess I asked for that one. :scratch2:

Well, even more so at twenty bucks -- if you don't get them, we'll never know! Actually, the Mongomery Wards thing makes me more curious, not less -- don't you wonder if they decided to make a really high quality speaker to establish their name, or if, instead, these are the usual sizzle and not much steak exercise so common with big companies?

Yeah, for 20 bones I may just "bring over a unit and plug them in" I think the one photo even showed RCA ends on the speaker wires :D

Remember Montgomery Ward used to be in the catalog busines.. Possibly the cabs are MW and the innards are Utah, University,...

The Monty Wards connection wouldn't scare me off. I have a great .22 rifle made for Montgomery Ward by Mossberg, and I've seen other quite nice items with the MW name attached.
