Need some really big high power speakers

If you bought pre-owned Klipsch Corn walls or something similar from Cerwin Vega, JBL or Altec all you would need is about 80 watts to get all the level you need. But with that kind of power you are really going to have to search high and low. Because cheap speakers are not designed to handle that kind of power. I have heard of folks using that kind of power with JBL 4435 and 4300 series speakers and a few folks using half that power with Altec model 19's and various Cerwin Vega models. But specific speakers like Mcintsoh, Snell, Magico, Meyer, EAW are going to set you back far more than your budget. Now if you can keep your foot off the pedal and the metal there are lots of speakers that will work. But stay way from PA speakers and the like. They'll handle the power and you can get them cheap after they have been drug all over doing PA and sound re-enforcement for touring bands. But the quality will never be what your looking for. OH I know the perfect speaker for you. They eat up lot of power. Get your self 2 pairs of BOSE 901's. And they fill your request for not being that great.
 
i guess i could go over budget a little. i was thinking something like B&W matrix 801s but not them. I've had a pair and want something different, hopefully more sensitive.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems a little backward to look for speakers that can handle a TON of power when you could instead just remove one of those amps and open up the possibility to many more speakers.

If it were me I would say: "Ok, I have the capability to power just about any speaker ever created. Cool." Then shop for the speaker you want. Then decide if you really need 800 wpc to power them. I can almost guarantee that 99% of all speakers out there will be fine with the 275 wpc into 8 and 400 wpc into 4 that a single 2250 can produce. Hell, at normal listening volumes, most speakers will be pulling less than 5 watts. Your Klipsch Chorus are probably pulling less than a single watt most of the time.

If I were you I'd sell the other 2250 and put that money into your budget for speakers.

If you love to rock and just feel the need for a huge speaker that will eat up gobs and gobs of power, I think you'll be happy with Infinity Kappa 9s.
 
I have Ohm/Walsh 300 MKII. Older model but damn they sound good. I use a B&K that puts out about 300 per channel into a 4 ohm speaker. Not all of the newer Ohm speakers are 4 ohm. It takes a lot of power to really make them open up and produce the bass they are capable of. Buy direct and a 30 day home trial. speakers
 
If you’re just looking for loud and don’t really care what they sound like, find some Peavey PA Speakers. Sound like **** but go pretty loud

Those are much better speakers than the CV haters will ever admit to.
Basically the same speaker as the CV CLS-215 except the XLS-215 are bi-amp ready and have a few other minor differences.
Even TAS gave the CLS-215 a glowing review...

Good friend of mine has both CLS-215 and Kappa 9's,and the CV's can easily go toe2toe with the K9's in terms of SQ.

Beyond those plan on spending a ton more $$$$ for some big ATC's or something along that line.

I think the OP wants BIG, gut busting sound and he isn’t particular how he gets there. I have to agree with zero-D-hero that the top of the line Cerwin Vegas with Dual 15 inch woofers would do the trick. Yeah baby!
 
Polk SDAs. They rock at high wattage, and have finesse (especially with the upgraded tweeters). My SDA-2s will take 500 watts at 4 ohms. They can also be had for a few hundred.

Now, OP, power is great to have, and it sets you free to choose virtually any speaker you like, without having to worry about the ability to drive it, but you've told us nothing about what you want/like in a speaker.
Right now I'm listening to Shine on you Crazy Diamond parts 1-5, nearfield, driving my maggie 1.6Qr's with my Carver M 1.5t(350wpc), and the lights are dancing on the carver, which means the maggies are just eating up the power.
You could feed all that power to a pair of 1.7 and be done, but it depends on what you want to hear.

nearfield, maggies are like gigantic headphones that go floor to ceiling, it's a most immersive experience.

I've pegged both my PM 1.5(450wpc@4) and my PM 350(450wpc@4) easily driving my magnepan 2.5r speakers, so they'll take all the power you can feed them.

But, I must say, you could easily attain the spl with a pair of klipschorns and one amp, maybe VOTT altecs? You should be able to drive any Infinty speaker properly to it's limits, none of my Infinity's have ever pegged an amp no matter the db. (I run out of ears before they run out of power on Infinity speakers.)

what do you want in sound?
