In my collection I have the G-7500...If you like rap, classic rock and music with high energy in general, and if you want to stay vintage, some of these may be a bit more than your budget but you can try :
JBL L100's, or 4311's,
Altec lansing model nine or fifteen series ll,
Klipsch Heresy ll,
Realistic Mach 1,
Cerwin Vega D3 or D5,
Pioneer HPM 100's
to mention a few. some are harder to find.
if you want to stay with Sansui, then for $250 I would try SP-300's or SP-2000's
Matching speakers to your taste is a journey, we can only give you an idea of what we like, and everyone likes something different...but ive learned that speakers are one of the more important pieces in the chain and one should spend a bit more money on speakers. I ended up with B&W DM6's...for my ears they do everything right with every music genre...

I know this is an old post but I'm in the same scenario with a G7000 and my current Kenwood tower speakers. Was your choice listing in order of personal preference?
Just curious, my music preference includes having a solid bass sound and clean high frequency (rock i.e. Pink Floyd, jazz fusion Spyro Gyra).
I would greatly appreciate your feedback.
