On the Musonic web site, which sells the original ADC stylus designed for ADC XLM MK II Improved, we can read the specifications of this needle.

I have found this sentence :
This stylus is also suitable for ADC XLM MKIII and ZLM MKII versions which are discontinued.

I picked up a Dual 1218 last year for about $5, sporting what could only be described as a near perfect ADC XLM MKII cartridge and stylus. How the stylus never got damaged is beyond me. Anyway, it is now mounted in one of my home-made tables (ARcom) and dang if this thing doesn't sound really, really good.

Quite correct, the stylus determines tracking, tracing, compliance, and nuance.

I'm taking audible differences between versions that are otherwise functionally identical. They may sound different to the user in various ways and influence preferences.

I also have the Technics SL-Q2 and it has a medium mass tonearm-it will work on this arm but you will get the best out of the cartridge by putting it on a low mass arm that the cart was designed for. I might have to pull the trigger on that new original improved stylus!

Another alternative is a new company called Analogis sold at Mrstylus.com they have a a new nude synthetic .3x.7 same as the original stylus configuration black diamond for the ADC XLM. I still prefer OEM stylus if its a good deal. I am not going to pay the ungodly prices that some sellers do. I think that the Swiss nude and Analogis nudies are going to be the next best thing on the market now. As a matter of fact I think they are going to give Jico a run for their money and maybe forced to make nudies too! But they would charge a higher price. Just thinking!
