Maybe it's meant to be hidden behind a screen like some of the old WE theater speakers...
Never have I ever seen speakers like these!!!

That's just to darn cool looking not to want it, and a heck of a conversation piece even if the sound is not as good as it looks.

I see an example of form follows function. It just happens to look pretty damn cool.
AMT driver technology has earned its due respect in the industry for a reason. Pretty cool to see the technology forwarded by a hifi manufacturer legend.
The robot aesthetic parallel is undeniable, but Wilson, MBL, etc and even the pedestrian Polk Monitor 10 have been there, done that. It looks like it does because the designers set out to make a bad ass sounding speaker, I can only assume.

Just looking at them makes me a lttle afraid to get near them.
They better sound really really good, that's a lot to overcome in the living room.

Still one of my all time favorite robots. Robbie is the other. I couldn't resist spending $20 on a Robbie the robot when I saw it. It even lights up and talks!Danger Danger Will Robinson!
Took me a few hours but I finally figured out what they remind me of.

IIRC, the device's name was Nomad. It thought that Capt. Kirk was its creator.

Forbidden Planet is a good show. Particularly good for its day.
