Yesterday I acquired this Zenith C587, AM/FM/Phono. It has RCA jacks for Tape on the back and a headphone jack, too. It was in the same family since it was purchased around 1973, if I recall the dates correctly, and I had repaired it for the son of the original purchaser. After enjoying it once again for the last year or so he decided that it was time to pass it on to somebody, and that turned out to be me. The FM reception is fantastic, and I haven't had time to hook up an antenna yet! I figure once the antenna is connected I will be able to pick up Mars.
The turntable is a BSR and is in good shape. The repair last year was actually a "grease transplant". The original goo that the factory put in had turned to stone so I did the usual major cleanup and lubricated it with modern products of the appropriate type.
Honestly, this setup sounds really much better than I had expected. I am really surprised.
Now all I have to do is figure out where to put it. Personally, I'd like to have it set up in a classing Mid-Century Modern room.
