New Chinese magnetic levitation turntable

Sure that patent hasn't expired? Did it even have a WO patent issued? Would not be infringement if its only been issued for a few countries. Patent law is weird stuff.

It might be similar to the one Teac violated, which I thought was the Luxman version? Disclaimer: I know nothing of substance on this...just from a bit of reading...I am not an attorney and you should consult one regarding your patent issues.

Cheers

I was just piling on.;)

Seems like a solution in search of a problem to me. There are already plenty of tables that have bearing noise that are below the noise of the stylus on the record. So I’m not understanding how this audibly improves vinyl playback.

Have you watch the video in the OP link where the Chinese "bloke" (guess a CEO or some representative) mounts the said turntable out of it's box and squashes in the platter spindle shaft tight into the bearing then presses to bounce the whole "thingy" that produces a continuous squeaky sound ? Hilarious somehow but really not to show in order to promote that thing at the same time.

In the 70s, Stanton and KLH (one of their KLH-X products) both made tables with similar magnetic levitation of the main bearing, and I believe that Stanton and at least one other company had made them in the 60s and maybe even the 50s. I doubt if the idea is patentable - it's utterly obvious and I thought of it myself as a teenager before I saw any of the implementations of it.

I wouldn't buy this integrated turntable... However, a couple of years ago I seriously contemplated buying an FFYX magnetic bearing combined with their 11kg platter (available on eBay) and driving it with a Jasmine motor (also available on eBay). Could be a very interesting project.

WO is a reference to a published application under the PCT (Patents Cooperation Treaty), which is a mechanism for filing in lots of countries with a single application. It never becomes a patent. At 30 months from priority, you get to select the countries in which you wish to proceed - to the best of my knowledge, nobody, not even Big Pharma, proceeds in all 157 PCT Contracting States. Infringement is a matter for individual countries (except in the case of the new Unified Patent Court in the EU), and granted claim scope can vary widely, to the extent that you get broad claims in some countries, and very narrow (or none at all) in others.
