By the way, two of the RSII mid-bass drivers in series works very well in place of the one original Philips driver. Almost the exact impedance in series. They look nicer and whith one lower and one higher I think the sound distribution will be better.

What about output level? You have +- twice the cone area... they should sound louder than just 1 philips mid...

The tech sheet shows the mid-bass coupler phase reversed with the woofer...

Sitting here listening to the two together than switching to the single Philips, to me they sound fairly close as far as output goes. I'm going to place one at the same level as the original QLS-1 and one about halfway up the line array. Hopefully this will improve the sound of the mid bass like many others think it will.

It will be hard to tell until you hear in-cabinet response from the drivers.

So if I'm reading this right, you'll be using the passive crossover for bass and mid-bass and active for mids and emits? That will simplify your setup.
What active are you using?
 
The mid bass will have a "Pot" for output adjustment just like the original design so I should be able to dial it in once I have them in place.

Yes, you're reading this right Jim. I can't seem to find a 4-way stereo active crossover, only mono. So I'll use one amp an SAE-2400 that's currently being gone through at the Sound Doctor here in Loveland for the bass and mid-bass. I will then use my Pioneer SA-9500 and SA-8500, which have both been gone through recently for the Emits and Polydomes for now. I would love to get tube amps later on but for now these will have to do.

As far as the active crossover, I've been looking at Behringer, Gemini and Rane. I was going to make a trip to Guitar Centers here in Ft. Collins to see what they have. If anyone has more thoughts on the active crossovers, please chime in. it's unfortunate that there are so many well designed Car Audio active crossovers but so few for Home Audio. Audio Control makes some very good crossovers with all kinds of control. Wish they were in the home audio market.

I have really appreciated everyone's input so far. AK is the best and friendliest place to get information.
