A long time collector of music and audio gear...rediscovering the hobby after being away for awhile.
When I started my broadcasting career at age 19 (1981), one of the first things I did was apply for a JCP credit card so I could buy my first component system. JCP was the only ones that would give me credit on an announcers salary, so I bought my first MCS system. Previous to that I'd saved up my money sacking groceries as a kid to buy an Emerson phono/cassette/radio system...so the MCS series was a step up.
After funds allowed, I replaced the MCS with JVC. Bought my first CD player in 1985, a Yamaha CDP-2. That same year I bought a Yamaha PF-800 turntable which I still use today. Protons followed the JVC in 1989: first with the D540 (which I still own today) and later picked up the Proton AA2120 in 1995 (also still have). 1990. A Parasound preamp P/LD 1100 followed in 1996.
Speakers include Paradigm 9SE MkII in 1990, Magneplanar 2.7's in 1996. The Maggies are too big for the new house I bought in 2001, so they have been resting in the box since the move.
Other gear throughout the years include Sony ES 5 disc changer, Sony Mini disc recorder, a couple of Sony 400 disc changers, and a Pioneer CD recorder along with assorted EQ's.
Today my audio listening system includes a pair of Paradigm 9SE MkII, Parasound P/LD 1100 preamp, Yamaha PF-800 turntable, NAD CDP516BEE CD player, a Parasound A23 amp.
Hoping to contribute, learn some things about restoring old gear. Perhaps buy/sell/trade too.
