I have a reprint of an old ad for that machine. Tonearm has jewel bearings. Stuff like this permits low tracking force, but would the return mechanism trip at the end of the record, or simply cause the arm to stick?

This was low tracking force, for 1956. Then, 6 grams was low tracking force. Think GE RPX as the best cartridge most Garrards of this model then would have installed. Trip mechanism realistically worked at this force. Collaro was the only changer then which could trip at 3-4 grams. Dual's 1009 in 1964 was the first modern audiophile automatic as you and I know it.
