new project - bamboo not-so flexy

I may have my work cut out for me in the sanding department. There's some white residue (glue from the manufacturing process I'm guessing) on some of the pieces that is a real pain to get off. I wiped down the pieces with a damp sponge last night to check and it's still everywhere. I only managed to make a little dent. Lame. Needless to say this stuff does not sand easily so it looks like I'll be at it for a while. :(
 
Borrowed a friend's random orbit sander which made semi-quick work of the trouble spots. Slapped some Watco on there and bam!

In retrospect I would have chosen a different finish if I would have known I was going to do as much filling as I did. The filler did not take on as much color as the rest. Oh well. It's done. Sorry for the crap phone pic. The memory card in the "good" camera and the computer are not getting along at the moment.

Great inspiration,
I went to the local distributor of the same product,
a sheet of 2440 mm X 1220 mm X 30 mm will set me back $ 330.
That will cut down to 4 shelves @ 600 mm deep and 1220 mm wide.
It's the most solid shelving I can find.

Nice rack! How deep is it? Mine was 4' wide x2' deep but I needed middle supports to pull that off.

Also, what kind of speakers are those? They look like the ones (I can't remember what they're called) with the internal baffles.

Mine's 40" wide by 16" deep. I needed something pretty shallow to fit in the corner. It's just wide enough to fit two standard pieces of gear side by side. The only bummer is the dust cover for the TT doesn't fully open, but it removes easily

The speakers are Madisound BK-16 horn cabinet kits with Audio Nirvana drivers. I just finished them last week.

Don't let it get wet either, it will warp pretty bad if you do. At least my bamboo cutting board in the kitchen did.
 
I have had zero issues with our bamboo cutting board. If this rack gets wet enough to cause problems I have bigger problems anyway.
 
That looks pretty good! I just re-read the initial post, and apparently it didn't sink into my thick head just how solid those shelves are. I can't imagine your amps ever getting warm enough to heat your shelf to a plastic state. I may do something similar, thanks for the idea.
