New speaker legs

I don't know yet. I will get them platted as well as the aluminum phase plugs for my Lambda TD15" woofers. The front of my woofer cabs are copper clad as well. Kind of going for the steam punk look.

What did you build cabs from that you could plate with Cu? Or did you somehow bond a sheet to the front?

You know that if those are chrome plated, dollars to donuts there's a layer of copper electroplated onto the base finish beneath the chrome ;-)

sure, but stripping cost just as much as platting and is less uniform. There is a chance with stripping that the copper will come off as well.

Here is a pic of the completed speakers. The baffle boards are clad with copper. In these pix I am using the JBL E140 woofers. My TD15s will be here next week and I will send out the phase plugs and legs then for copper plating

I don't want to jinks this but saying something premature, but I just looked at the UPS site and see that my Lambda TD15 woofers should be delivered today. This is importante because 1. the woofers I am using now suck and 2. I can now send my new legs AND the aluminum phase plug from the woofers out for copper plating. Once I get all that back and installed I can call these speakers DONE!!!

Sure has Duk. The main reason is the EPA! The cost of dealing with all those deadly chemicals has gone through the roof. Luckily I am only having these stripped then copper plated. So there is no cost for chrome dip or finally finishing before chroming.

Will look cool with the legs and all-copper theme!

Good news on your TD15's - hope you get it today. You're gonna love them! Still waiting for the phase plug on mine.

I am hoping so. I wish my cabs were a bit bigger. They are only 4.5 ft3 and those drivers really need at least 6 ft3 to breath proper. I don't think they will go down to 35hz but I do have 4 subs in the room if need be.

I am working at home today and every time a car goes by I look out the window. It's been a long 8 month wait.

P.S. I am removing the round balls on the bottom of the legs and welding on 2" custom spike nuts, then getting the whole assemble copper plated.

Very nice! A huge fan of steampunk myself :thmbsp:

The next pair I'm building are going to have mottled copper front and rear baffles. I have the cabinets built and already have the copper veneer (they don't give that stuff away!). Hope to get the ball rolling on that soon.

Yours look amazing!!
