Agree with this. Fluance makes some very decent tables at their price point but the name Fluance makes me think of "fart".

I agree. An affordable suspended subchassis turntable would be a welcome alternative to the plethora of slab-of-MDF offerings we have at present. However, trading on someone else's hard-earned reputation by copying the appearance of another product doesn't impress me.

That's a ridiculous take. The AR-XA hasn't been in production for FIFTY YEARS.

I’m not so sure his take is ridiculous. The XA has been in daily use for decades by tons of members on AK alone and is irrefutably an iconic turntable. How long ago production ceased doesn’t really matter.

Frankly I’m not enamored with the idea of a clone. Always feels like a marketing gimmick. If you want to make a suspended deck with a cast t-bar etc…fine. But robbing someone else's design style just to sell more units based on another’s aesthetics rubs me the wrong way. Same with the 1200 clones. What’s next, 301 clones?

Let's not forget that the AR XA was inspired by the Stromberg-Carlson PR499 & PR-500, both were suspended chassis belt-drive turntables.

Nothing wrong with cloning the XA, but based on what's shown in their website, it seems a long way off

Improving them is rather inexpensive and you can slap on a nameplate that is not absurd.

This is just false. Restoring an XA is not 'inexpensive'. There are not 'dozens' out there in easy to restore condition. And the name plate issue is silly. It's a prototype, it's the guy's name, and he's an AK member! Have some respect folks, come on.

Some of this carping reminds me of when the father of one of the U-Turn guys joined years ago and posted to share how proud he was of what his son and friends accomplished with getting the company off the ground and he got nothing but insults. I don't get it.
