Newbie from Indonesia :)

:) I think that is my father and mother's musics :)

Last time, one of their rare LP price has gone up to $75

At one time I had all of their records except their second LP although I did have an EP with four songs from it. We're talking about maybe 9 records: LPs, 10", EPs and singles. I payed about $1200 for them. The second LP I bid $875 on and got outbid in the final minutes. Eventually I transferred everything to CD and sold the collection for about what I payed for it. So I have almost all of their music.

I never realized... that once a group from Indonesia is really well known such they are... Maybe I need to search for their works and found out how rocking they are... :)

When I saw them through television when I was a kid, they already quite an old musician... no more power from them.

One of the Indonesian group year 2000's that I rate very high is "Peterpan". I think their first two albums are masterpiece. Too bad they split up after that.

Maybe I should start list Indonesian musician that I consider the best... :)

@Treker: thank you... I hope I could positively participate here...

@dynoryder: From the youtube link you refer to me... Jessica Mauboy is cool..! definitely a talented singer... Will try to find her album... Thanks for introducing her... Reminded me when I found Joss Stone few years ago... Adele is another story, she easily explode without necessarily introduced...

@Wally: wow, never realized they are so appreciated... Their albums are now not easily found in Indonesia. I must search then...

Dara Puspita went in a pop direction by 1972 and I don't think they lasted much longer after that. The latest LP that I had by them was 1973 and it wasn't so good. Their best LP is Green Green Grass. They have a 10" called "A Go-Go" which is great also. Careful with that one, only very rare first pressings play all the way through. The more common second pressings all skip during one song ["Believe Me" I think]. The "classic" Dara Puspita is very raw garage with fuzz and good songwriting. The album on the "Indra" label [1970?] gets a little proggy, not unlike that other Indo girl band "Beach Girl". There are quite a few interesting artists from your country from the 1960's/70's. I have a compilation CD that I got from a guy who collects that stuff and everything on it is good.

Noted... :)

No, I won't look for the LP.... CD would be good for me... :)

progressive is very fine for me... I like to listen to Genesis' Selling England By The Pound, as well as the whole set of Return to Forever (early fusion really sound like prog...

If you run into a sweet young woman on Sumatra named Tampubolon Ida, tell her Dave said "Hi" and tell her she is missed, here in Virginia.

Welcome to AK!!!

Hello Taihei-san,

unfortunately it is beyond my "real" knowledge to answer your wish... :)

What I know so far is... Indonesia has now become a net importer for crude oil to full fill our own need. Because the local production is not sufficient to fill the local need.

Yours too,
David

yes you should try it! if you're lucky you'll find some nice vintage audio gears for cheap! lots of them are already in bad condition, but still repairable to some extent..

the last time i went to a fleamarket i found sansui au-555 and au-101 (which i picked up and now in the process of repairing) :D
