Next logical "step up/upgrade" from Technics 80's sound?

That Technics "Pro" S_-90_0 series is the only stuff of theirs that I really lust after being a "rack mount" aficionado.
So I'd say you chose very wisely on your Technics "upgrade path" journey.

Ok,so what's the 5th piece your looking for ?
If it were me I'd HAVE to get the SH-9020 level meters !!!
Not an easy find though...

Anyhow, congrats & enjoy the new rig.

Next logical "step up/upgrade" from Technics 80's sound?

I dig technics and currently enjoy my SU-V6X but am wondering what I am missing without any Harmon Kardon, Sansui or Marantz in my life and audio equipment line up?

Is there a logical next step musically and particularly if ai truly enjoy the Technics 80's power sound?
You aint missing anything thats a sweet and balsy Technics su-v6x it can power very hungry speakers without breaking sweat and @ .003 thd

NAD is smoother and more relaxed. Rotel is a good choice. You have to go to separates if you want better sound from Marantz. Sounds like to me that your not ready to make a lifetime decision by investing long Term in Either Krell, Mcintosh, Bryston or going deep into debt with Boulder etc. I 'd buy some pre-owned Mcintosh if you have a dealer that will help pick the right sound for you. There are tube pre-amps, there are SS pre-amps. Just like their are SS amps and tube amps. The Integrqated units can be all SS or part SS and part tube, So you have to know what you are looking for. I have owned Mcintosh from 1963 starting with tubes which was all thats available. My speakers prefer Mac direct coupled amps but I have owned amps with autoformers with other speakers and have been very happy. Having worked for the professional division of a sound company that sold Mac and used the amps commercially from the 60's thru the early 90's I have heard them all. If you are happy with your speakers its easy to pick the right Mcintosh. If you're not, buy better speakers first. Technics power with some speakers like KEF could be to edgy for me. Other speakers that were a bit dark the Technics was a great choice. loved their SL 1000 series tables.

If you had to choose for life, the best amp or the best speakers, what would you choose to live with and listen to music ?

10X is transistor output… but yes… like the nothing in the neverending story, unobtanium is stalking us all… those computer drive ICs are in that field.

some do fail but technics still made a very good product unlike denon receivers and amps the only thing missing is a grab handle to chuck it off a cliff, that why I did a full resto on 1975 sae gear

I was talking about the extra cost and associated perceived value placed on those specific brand names in today's market.
I’ve always been happy with the upper realistic models sta2000 or sta2080 and of course the big boys sta2100 ir sta2300 at 120 wpc although not as costly as pioneer Sansui or marantz they were very good and quite seviceable . The sta2290 sta2500 and sta2600 often go for under $200 bucks 100wpc at’.05% early digital units that still had the vintage vibe and wood sides and some aluminum in the face plate as well as tone midrange and bass controls with a loudness button

Realistic made NO crap, their receivers were made by Foster Electronics and they used the same schematics and design as Pioneer, Realistic seem to have huge oversize traffos. many Jap brands were owned by Matsushita. I was always leery of Carver their "magnetic field" jargon was just that they just use the straight current from your wall socket to your speakers notice how small their power supply caps are for amps kicking out 250wpc.
