NHT 2.5 v NHT ST4 whch one?

A friend is looking at the NHT 2.5 and NHT ST 4 for music. Is there a reason to pick one over the other price is about the same. Thanks

Is it possible for him to hear before he buys? That's what I'd do if I wasn't sure. They both seem to be very similar designs, and I've heard great things about NHT.

(Personally, I'd go with the cheaper one, even if it is only by a few bucks)

You should try and have a listen. the ST4 is definitely a bit more laid back, and make s bait more deep bass.

The 2.5 and especially 2.5i sound wonderful, but in my opinion they lean a bit more forward in the upper midrange than the ST4...with a good amplifier and good setup, the effect can be really engaging, but with a cheap AVR in a room with a lot of glass and hardwood they wouldn't be my choice.

One last thing. the ST4 is a more recent model, and parts/replacement drivers are more likely to be available. Most parts for 2.5/2.5i are long gone I suspect

Good point about the parts as I know the6.5 for the 2.5 is no longer made. I wonder how a B&W DM 640 would stack up, or Energy RC 50, RC70?
