Nightwisher's New Luxman's Room and Beyond

Nightwisher

Farer In The Goldilocks Zone
I graduated and am moving to a new, bigger apartment. As such, I have a second bedroom to play around with. A work in progress, but the stereo system is setup and running. New Pangea Vulcan rack and amp stands in rosenut.

The living room downstairs had to have the first system with the TimeFrame 700s and NAD 7155. Literally the first load in.

I also have a closet now to throw the spare gear in. Trying to thin it out.

A few new pickups:

Acoustic Profiles TSL-7.5s

Very nice Canadian speakers. Among my favorites now. It's nice when audiophiles have babies ;)

Onkyo D-062AX

Picked these up in a trade. Very nice veneer and they sound good too.

Harman/Kardon hk720

Same trade. Just need to get a cartridge mounted.

Sansui 4000

Yep, same trade. Sounds very good.

That trade also netted me some Cerwin-Vega AT-60s and AT-8s.

Very nice indeed. Luv your luxman shrine
Fantastic!! Good luck with the new digs!!
Mighty fine listening space & pieces!

Rome
Nice use of new space.
Thank you all. I finally get to spread some things out a bit.

It's been a bit of a struggle, because I've virtually been living without the system for about 2 weeks now, even though it's now setup at the new place. Planning on completing the move on Saturday, though :)

INew Pangea Vulcan rack and amp stands in rosenut.
Congrats on graduation! Luxman arrangement looks well thought out.

Unless you're planning on putting something atop the uppermost shelf, you might remove it and use elsewhere (so long as it is modular like mine). I use similar racks for main and HT and used one shelf of each as amp stands upstairs. One is cosmetically mismatched, but so what? ;)

Thank you.

My turntable will go there, just haven't gotten it there yet.

I can imagine it being rough not having a system for 2 weeks (first world problems, I know). I know when I get busy or distracted and do not listen for almost a week, I start to notice it. Though it is great when I finally do sit down and listen for a few hours.

New pickups:

Dahlquist DQ-10

Traded the CV AT-60 for these, so it was a very good deal. The guy said they were too bright - there's a squealing tweeter that needs to be replaced, so that's probably why. They still sound excellent, definitely keepers.

JBL 4312a

Scored these from someone's garage in the middle of nowhere. A little rough around the edges, but fully functional. They sound great.

The new apartment is almost all setup. Will post pictures soon.

Settling in, all systems setup and running, and have more space to do so.

Got the turntable in and the speaker spikes on in the main system.

The Dahlquists are in the living room powered by the Onkyo Integra TX-870. The surround system is virtually the same as it was before. Magnepans are chilling in the back for now.

The computer/bedroom system is mostly the same, except 2.1 for now.

The dining room system has my new ADS SAT7s, but is otherwise very similar.

Picked up the SAT7s from a psychiatrist a few days ago. They sound fantastic, but the midrange domes will need work.

Picked up the Onkyo Integra TX-870 a few weeks ago, but forgot to post it. Beast of a receiver.

Really been enjoying watching your audio journey from around early 2016 to now. A lot of gear has come and gone, 1000's of contributions to AK and I often wondered where you found the time to complete your studies. In fact, I remember seeing one pic of your room stacked with speakers and other audio I thought it was so packed in you'd be lucky to have 30mins of breathable air before you suffocated. However, it is nice to finally see you get some space to spread out....so I guess by the end of the year you'll have to move again to accommodate you ever growing collection!!!

Rob :)

System(s) looking great, I especially like the Luxman room! I like how discogs is open on your desktop, seems like I always have that opened up somewhere.

Thank you! It's been difficult this summer, moving and trying to study for the bar exam, along with my usual activities.

I'm actually trying to clean out that closet of spare gear - I have the whole lot listed. Whether it'll all sell or not is another story.

Thank you! Luxman's Room took a lot of work and I do really love how it came out - my first dedicated stereo room.

I use Discogs a lot, mainly for information when I'm digitizing records. I keep telling myself someday I'll actually go through and log everything I have.

Some really good looking rooms you have here. That Sansui though. I have a Pangea rack also solid and good looks. How do you like that rosenut. Was thinking of getting that one also.

Thank you! I love the Pangea rack. The rosenut looks great, and goes great with my Lynnfields and my other speakers with a reddish veneer.

The Sansui ended up going to one of my local friends that I do business with, since he loves Sansui.

You have some really nice looking gear. I know early DQ-10, Maggies, and the DCM TF. Have had them all.
Thank you! Yeah, those are great speakers and among my keepers. Now, if I could just get rid of the non-keepers...
