Hi, I hope some of you will know if this is a bad idea..

I am starting from scratch after a complete rebuild from hell, my apartment, not a speaker. When everything else I made, was made exactly as I want it and within budget, everything down to light fixtures, I thought to include sound as well..

The apartment is small with a lot of exposed wood and exposed beam ceilings, approximately 44 square meters, but spacious enough, since i knocked down some walls and now live below an exoskeleton. I put it up myself and saved a fortune.

I thought I might adhere to this while looking for a soundsystem.

After a few nights of reading up. I started seeing what was on the local market here in Denmark, and there are surprisingly many high quality Amplifiers out there- maybe I am bound by nostalgia, remembering those magic yellow VU meters of my fathers SONY tape recorder.

I 'think' I want the Nikko NA-890 (beautiful) and Audionote AX/TWO speakers.
Found 'em! reasonably priced at a total 700USD. Good? No good?

But then I saw a pair of homebuilt speakers, and thought maybe to get them with a Nikko Beta II og Alpha II setup. Are they not just basically a set of Audionote AN/E’s? living in a slightly more shabby wood box, priced at 440USD that would be a bargain, no? I could take them really really carefully apart and make new boxes for them.

Here is a description and link to where i found them (not mine and I don't know the guy at all):

Here, a translation of the description included on the listing:

Loudspeakers, Audio Note, Type E, passive, 50 W, Good condition
A set of DIY Audio Note type E loudspeakers.
- 19mm plywood with internal reinforcement (square frame under bas unit) clear varnish
- Vifa 8" (4 ohm) bass middletone unit with new Audio Note foam edges
- SB Acoustics SB29RDNC (4 ohm) tweeter
- stainless bass ‘reflex port’ in the back (does that make sense?)
Very nice sounding also on smaller amps
Nothing missing (no swaps).

Good? no good?

Thanks a lot (and you dont have to be nice, just tell me if I have to go to school some more).

Best, Henrik
