Nikko gamma 30 Tuner

I'm tempted to see what you'd do to the schematic for the gamma 40.

I recapped my beta ii, with good results, but I was blindsided by a beta 40 and it's been idle. The gamma 40 was great for a week until I scored an at-v04. :beatnik: The akai is levels above the nikko in ability and sonics, still I'd like to get the nikko sounding better. Ain't no way I'm messing with a tuner unless I've a guide tho.

I have now seen the two schemes, nikko and akai, you have the possibility that the nikko sounds much better than the akai, but that has a price. It is not just replacing the capacitors. This has only a few improvements. A situation with excellent results is the replacement of resistors by metal film on the (mpx decoder -IC 301) and also on the audio output (IC 302), from the RN55C series by vishay, they are cheap (buy from MOUSER), or if you prefer the RN55E series. If possible, change the rectifying bridges for others with faster recovery time, this improves the bass response and is no longer confusing.

A very important feature is the use of capacitors in the DE-EMPHASIS correction, I prefer the MICA capacitors from cornell dublier. (for better sound performance, the direction of the screen printing is the side that is connected to the 0V ground point).

I was looking the NIKKO gamma I, but here in Portugal and Europe for the 230V / 50Hz version, I didn't find any in good condition. That would be another level.
I also spent a long time looking for a NIKKO Beta V pre-amplifier, but it is so rare that I gave up on the search. I opted for Spectral DMC ....

I assume this is your ears/brain telling you this, not the instruments (by actually measure the frequency response, distortions and comparing the differences), correct? :)
Sorry, I just have a hard time believing some of these claims.

I just gave my opinion, on the basis of my professional experience. 20 years at panasonic broacast, and 15 years at sony broadcast.
Updating, maintenance and development of studio equipment.
I could put here photographs or arguments to prove it, it is ridiculous that I waste my time here with your doubts.

But it is your right to make your opinion.
