NJ CL, Marantz, opinions..

Its a beautifully looking unit. A bit underpowered in quad mode for rock-n-roll at 35 WPC, but most people don't use it for quad that much. If you have quad sources for acoustic, jazz or classical it will do fine. 70 WPC in stereo is more than enough for most applications.

Price seems a tad high, but refurb work on these isn't cheap. If the work was done recently and if everything works well (so you don't have to deal with the headaches) the premium, in my opinion, is worth the peace of mind.

Looks really nice, I would just make sure to audition it, which would also give the peace of mind that you're actually getting it. On CL you can't have stuff shipped, no assurances whatsoever, a friend paid for something and never got it, had no recourse.

I think you should ask James Jewei for coaching on this one!
I have a bad feeling, but James could yea or nay it.

I believe there's recourse if you use a service like Paypal.

With Paypal spinning off from Ebay I wouldn't be so sure. Paypal buyer protections were always much better for Ebay items than they were for any other purchase. I'm sure those protections will continue to evolve (for better or worse) as Paypal gets independent.

Well, I'm just thinking of a recent local case. A guy bought a turntable he found on craigslist. The seller accepted a Paypal payment. But there was a dispute (that is being played out in public listings on craigslist, no less), and the buyer said that Paypal sided with him, whatever that means.
