No Transistors-Dual 2019

Has anyone heard if Seth ( @NoTransistors ) is still fixing Dual turntables? I shipped him a Dual 2019 back in August 2020 and never got an update from him on his progress.

Have you sent him messages, including here? He's been online regularly and fairly recently too.

Firstly, I was sick with this covid ****, which pushed these repairs back. First covid and then the shot.
And on top of this, I have just passed another kidney stone. They heard me in Cleveland.
I am working fast as I can on catch-up.
Have you considered making a phone call to find this out?
And then there was the steurpimple issue.

What's gross about a little rubber cup? Or is it the word itself, which has a zit-like ending?
It seems like an extremely long word for a little plastic cup. I might appreciate it if I knew German, probably quite descriptive. Other than that to one who uses English it does sound a bit like a medical term for a skin eruption.

I might be able to shed a bit of light on this.....the German word "Steuer" has several meanings, one of which is "tax." I suggest this is not applicable here, and instead likely the meaning "to steer," (as in "Steuerad") in which case it might make a bit of sense as that is kind of what it helps to do, coupled with the "pimpel," in this case referring typically to a smallish bump created by a piece of rubber-like, or perhaps silicone or even vinyl material, covering a metal appendage that would not fare as well being dragged repeatedly over another metal surface intended to create a certain level of friction permitting a smooth path of travel. This is how I understand it but it's been waaaay too long to completely trust my mastery of "die deutsche Sprache....." I would defer to our local expert, "Greetings From Munich" herr @lini!!! Guten Tag, mein Kumpel!

(...) Guten Tag, mein Kumpel!

Hi Andreas! Yes, the "Steuer-" part indeed comes from steuern (= to steer/control) or respectively Steuerung (= steering/control) - in fact we even have that on our computer keyboards over here, as the control key on German keyboards is usually labelled with "Strg" rather than "Ctrl". Not sure, how the Dual guys came up with the "-pimpel" part, though - 'cause the usual German word for pimple would rather be Pickel. But maybe it exists or has existed in some German dialects.

Personally I would rather have called it a Kupplungskäppchen (= clutch/coupling cap; with the "-käppchen" part being a diminutive of Kappe to indicate the small size) anyway, as that would seem closer to its actual function.

Greetings from Munich!

Manfred / lini

Off topic, but I was in USAF, newly assigned to Germany. I didn't know where "Ausfart" was, but it was pretty popular destination, as signs were on all over the place...

OT again, please indulge....

Thank you for your service, @kdlsoft!

Hahaha! "Ausfahrt" is the German word for EXIT, so those signs were telling you that you could get off the highway you were on by following them......

Were you in Ramstein?
