As a wannabe tube amp builder I want to thank you for OC's pics and taking the time to do the translation. Just finished a 6P3P aka 6L6 from ICAIRNS in China.I'm like a dog with a bone... I emailed the guy who sells these on Amazon, and it looks like someone in China took the time to do a DIY instruction PDF with a lot of good pictures which he sent me... but of course all the text was in Chinese again! SO, I took the time today and used Google Translate and copied/pasted like crazy to come up with this English version. Some of the photos still have Chinese text that I couldn't translate and that makes me a little nervous, but.. I'm a heck of a lot closer now than I was. I only hope that this document finds its way to other wannabe tube amp kit builders and is helpful. And thanks for the kudos Dave! I am always happiest as a teacher when I can do projects like this with my students, knowing it's going to be a great benefit to them down the road. I wish someone had done this with me in middle school!!

No fire, smoke stayed in the bottles and I got some music to play. Have a hum which may be due to the fact that I left out the Volume control and ran RCA input wires directly to Pin#1 of the 6H8C pre-amp tube. Now, Gordon Rankin in Sound Practices essentially does the same thing for his 2A3 monoblocks but with a little extra added. He runs a 1K resistor from the RCA input to the grid pin#2 of his 12AT7 and a 221K resistor from the RCA to ground. I have not done that. I have ground the 2 RCA's to the main ground loop, like OC has displayed. Anybody who has any ideas about eliminating the hum I would love to hear from you. In the meantime I will try the resistors and see what happens.
