Non Audio Threads

i have noticed a lot more non audio threads that i have to wade through when i hit "new posts" sometime 10 or 15 out of 25 per page. it seems some people are really grasping at straws with some of these threads, maybe just competing for higher post numbers, or maybe just like playing games with other people. not a complaint just an observation.

Or maybe, they've been mostly stuck at home since March, and just want to talk.

I've never met anyone around here who cares that much about their post count or likes. There are a few trolls and whatnot. Comes with the territory. But fewer than most other places on the web.

I think it's great. The AK membership is a very diverse, talented group with a broad range of interests, passions, and obsessions outside of audio. Having fora to discuss and share those other interests adds depth and dimension to AK.

Your post wasn't a problem, until you put it in the wrong section...
Off audio topics aren't forbidden, they just need to go in the correct section.

This an audio oriented site. Keep it that way, For the chefs, there must be plenty of sites tailored just for them. Same for the off roaders and auto enthusiasts.

From what I see those posts are almost always in the Off Topic forum which is where they should be? Am I missing something?

Only that everyone has an opinion and they can be quite diverse. And, I don't really think you're missing it...more rhetorical.

There are a few sub-forums(?) here on AK that I seldom, if ever, visit because I'm uninterested in the topic or whatever. If someone doesn't like seeing what I'm drinking or what I'm eating or reading about driving around in a car with 750 horsepower, that's cool, but then just stay out of those sub-forums (which is your point).

There's only so much geeking out about audio people can do. Some people here have friends that they like shooting the breeze with. This site is like a one stop shop for them to all to hang out. It would be unrealistic for friends to have to join multiple special interest sites so they can talk about other things.

I look at it from the positive side, if the WORST thing that happened to you was finding a non audio thread on AK, then you likely had a pretty good day.
